Programming

The puppets have spoken! Capricon 47 will be another year of the eccentric, ideas-laden, and amusing program you’ve come to expect from the little convention that could!

Capricon 47’s program will take you on a wild journey through our convention’s quirky theme, “No Strings Attached,” and the unique corners of fandom, music, science, writing, and wonder that our convention represents! We plan to examine the convention theme both directly – by looking at puppets, muppets, and related creations and the whimsy and joy they bring – and indirectly – by tackling strings as a metaphor for control/freedom/pressure and their interactions in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and science! Our goal is to give you havens for laughter, reminiscence, and joy on one side and zones for introspection, critical thought, and constructive imagination on the other.

Our program will feature a wide selection of panels and educational experiences, including themed and non-themed items across a range of general SFFH topics, media, literature and comics, science, writing, and more. We’ll host talks on science and other cultural subjects, provide you a sea of informative, playful, and interactive panels and other events, and bring back our Roundtable format so YOU, the Capricon attendee, have a Capricon-y space to share your ideas, thoughts, and recommendations at length.

We are also happy to hear YOUR ideas for our extensive program. If there’s a panel (theme-related or otherwise) or other programming item that you desperately want to see, send it to us on our ideas form for panels, events, and participants!

Of course, if you want to do more than experience Capricon 47 as a member of the audience, you might be interested in participating in Capricon’s various programming tracks yourself. We have a handy participant form you can use to put your name in the hat.
