Crystal Galloway, also known as Candy Fluffs, is a traditional illustrator born and raised in Chicago.
She studied at California College of the Arts, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelors in illustration. She specializes in ink and watercolor to create manga and vibrant paintings.
In 2016 she illustrated her first published work, a children’s book. “The Meadow” by Julie Davis. Unfortunately the publishing company, GreenIvy Publishing closed months later. After that she shifted her focus back to anime and comics.
She likes to study different cultures and bring historical touches into her work and fan art. Chinese ink paintings and calligraphy have been a life long interest and are seen in most of her work. In 2018 she also began drawing a WEBTOON series with the help of her friend, Sergio, a writer whom she befriended at C2E2 a year earlier. Necahual takes place in a fantasy version of Meso America. The nature of the setting kickstarted an interest in traditional Mexican art as well. For the past 2 years she has been redrawing the comic from it’s vertical scrolling format to pages for print. The two hope to begin printing the series in 2027.
