Phandemonium Book Club – “Dragonsong”

0

We’ll be meeting on Sunday, March 17, to discuss “Dragonsong”.

Is there a better way celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than to discuss a Pern novel by Irish-American author, Anne McCaffrey? We don’t think so! It’s the first book in her Harper Hall trilogy.

We’ll be meeting at our normal time and location, 7pm at…

Cosi
1740 Sherman Ave
Evanston, IL

Get Your Picture Taken at Our Photobooth!

Capricon 33 is excited to announce that Chicagoland PhotoBooth (chicagolandphotobooth.com) will be at the convention taking YOUR photo on Saturday, February 9th from 11am to 5pm. They are so excited about being part of the con that they are constructing a TARDIS facade for the photobooth! How neat is that?! They will also have available a selection of props that can be used within the booth. The basic photo will be a strip of 4 black and white photos and will be available almost immediately. CDs can be purchased at a later date.

Capricon 33 Programming Survey is LIVE!

0

Are you interested in being part of Capricon 33 programming? If so, fill out our programming survey.

Capricon is a 900 member science fiction literature convention held annually in Wheeling, IL (a suburb of Chicago). Capricon 33 will be held February 7-10, 2013. We are proud to say that we are Chicago’s only four day science fiction convention, and have had a tradition for many years of choosing a theme for each convention; in 2013, our theme will be “Artificial Intelligence.” Our Guests of Honor include Daniel H. Wilson (Author Guest of Honor), Karen Ann Hollingsworth (Artist Guest of Honor), and Helen Montgomery (Fan Guest of Honor).

We have some great programming panels planned – all they need are great participants! This is where we hope you come in – it’s not too late to sign up.

Our programming questionnaire is up on the Capricon 33 website, ready and waiting for your input. There is a list of general topics that we have come up with, and all you have to do is fill out the questionnaire and press the Submit button. Next thing you know, you’ll be receiving an email later in December letting you know what panels you will be on. You will have time to review it and let us know if there are any questions or concerns or problems, and a final schedule based upon your feedback will be sent out in January.

Please also feel free to suggest panels you would like to be on, or just ones you would like to see. If enough people suggest similar topics, we’ll do our best to make it happen. You can email ideas directly to programming@capricon.org or add them in the appropriate box in the online questionnaire.

Anyone who participates in a minimum of three (3) programming items is eligible to earn back their membership fee. We do require that you *pre-register* for the convention. Reimbursement checks are then written after the convention has ended and are mailed to you. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please contact us at programming@capricon.org

If possible, please complete the questionnaire by 11:59pm (CT) on Sunday, December 9, 2012.

Thanks, and we hope see you at Capricon 33: Artificial Intelligence in February!

Sincerely,
Sondra de Jong
