UFAN Fight Song Contest Rules

  1. Contestant must be a member of Capricon 26.
  2. Contestant agrees to allow Capricon 26 use, gratis, of song(s) for purposes of promotion and execution of the Fight Song Contest. In addition, Winner(s) of the Fight Song Contest agree to allow Capricon and its parent organization, Phandemonium, use, gratis, of winning song(s) for promotional purposes.
  3. Contestant retains full publishing rights to submitted song(s), and will be given full songwriting credit if and when Capricon and/or Phandemonium uses said song(s) for promotional purposes.
  4. Songs may use either original melodies or existing melodies (parody). Songs using existing melodies should specify the melody as "TTTO" (to the tune of�)
  5. No profanity.
  6. Songs must be NO MORE than 2 minutes in length.
  7. At the judges' discretion, extra credit may be available for including any of the four items from the Artist Challenge in your lyrics.
  8. Submissions may be made in the following manner:

    BY SNAIL MAIL: Send 2 text copies of song lyrics plus 1 cassette tape or CD recording of 1 verse and 1 chorus, marked "Attn: Fight Song Contest" and postmarked NO LATER THAN JANUARY 24, 2006, to

    BY EMAIL: Send a text copy of song lyrics, plus an mp3 recording of 1 verse and 1 chorus, to E-mail Filk NO LATER THAN JANUARY 31, 2006. Please put "Fight Song Contest" in the subject line.
    AT THE CONVENTION: Songs may also be submitted in person at Capricon 26 at the reception following Opening Ceremonies on THURSDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 9, 2006. Please provide 2 text copies of song lyrics.
  9. ALL CONTESTANTS should be prepared to perform their songs at the reception following Opening Ceremonies on THURSDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 9, 2006 for the judges and attendees. Contestants may, if they prefer, designate a WILLING person (or persons) to perform in their place.
  10. A distinguished panel of judges will select the Finalists. (Don't forget to visit our Bribery Registry, conveniently located in the Lake Woebegon Room, where our Certified Bribery Consultants will help you choose the perfect "gift".)
  11. Finalists will perform their songs in concert for the members of Capricon on FRIDAY evening during the intermission between Space Time Theatre and The Peter Beagle-Kat Eggleston concert. Finalists may, if they prefer, designate a WILLING person (or persons) to perform in their place.
  12. The Official UFAN Fight Song will be chosen from the Finalists by a distinguished panel of judges (have you visited our Bribery Registry?) and performed by members of the universally renowned UFAN Glee Club at the opening of the Olympiad on SATURDAY.
