Check here for all you need to know about Special Events! There will be some returning
favorites and some new events sure to draw you in for some fun!
Due to being in a new hotel with a new hotel contract, there will not be a Thursday night reception following Opening Ceremonies. However, a light supper of pizza will be served during the Midwinter Faire on a first come, first served basis.
After a long hiatus, the Capricon Masquerade is returning.
Welcome Campers! From 5:30 - 7:30 PM on Thursday of Capricon 29, join
us at the Midwinter Faire and catch up with old friends or make some
new ones! There will be food, games, events, and more for your enjoyment.
You might even get a chance to take home your very own spaceman! We are
also asking for people to volunteer their time and energy for two hours
to provide the fun. If you have a skill or talent and you would like to
share, please email
fair @ capricon.org.
Art & Charity Auction
On Saturday night, join us for our Annual Art and Charity Auction. Artwork
from the Art Show with four bids or more will go to auction. In addition,
there will be several items up for auction that support this years charity,
The American Brain Tumor Association. We welcome donations
for the charity auction, which can be dropped off at the Art Show. We ask
that the items be appropriate for a SF convention auction. Be prepared to
open your checkbooks in support of a worthy cause!
GOT CAMP SPIRIT!?! Show it off Saturday at the Olympiad as
we do battle in some of the silliest ways you can imagine. You will
need skill, wit but mostly just plain luck, at Camp Capricon's Camp
Games (Can you say this three times fast?)
Polish up your vocal tubes and get ready for the
Camp Capricon Talent Show on Friday night. Join Camp Capricon's very
own Klingon as he hosts our annual Karaoke night.
Following the Masquerade Costume Contest will be
the Inter-Camp Dance, where we will mingle with our rival camp,
dancing with the Furry Ducks of Camp WindyChiaWaka twisting the night
away to the oldies and the goodies and the newbies too.
Come one, come all and match your wits against fellow
campers on Sci-Fi history and lore, trying to run your opponents
underware up the flagpole first. This is a good way to earn your
Special Events Merit Badge.
Avast ye campers! Join your old friend, Bluebeard the
Pirate, in some seaworthy silliness, as he makes port at Camp
Capricon. Having survived last year's sinking ship, he is back once
again for some family orientated fun.
Dark & Stormy Planet
Yes, once again it's back. The bad writing contest.
It's the opening sentences to worst stories never written, by you!
The winners along with the other entries will be read Sunday morning.
Bonus points will be considered if you start with:
"This one time at fan camp" or " A funny thing happened on the way to the Con"
Drop off your Stories at Ops during the Con. The stories will be
judged on Saturday night after we have been kicked off the party
Judges Gladly Accept Bribes!
Attention Campers: This year Capricon will be holding
a Scavenger Hunt. Just look for pictures of Capricious throughout the
camp ground and when you find one, write down on the official form
where you saw it
(i.e. dealers room, anime, consuite, etc.) on the line that
corresponds to the picture. Although it is possible to find all the
pictures, it will not be easy. Not all the pictures will be displayed
during the entire convention. So even if you are missing a few, you
can, however, still win. We will have two catagories, adults and children, so
18 and under make sure you put your age on the entry form. You can
pick up the scavenger hunt form at the information desk or registration.
