Movie Day Report

I Robot

There were about 25 people who showed up to see I Robot, 10a on a Sat morning. Given fandom’s tendency to saty up late/ sleep in that was a pretty good turnout for our first movie day. The theatre originally planned to put us in one of the smaller rooms but decided it was too much trouble to move the film. We ended up in theatre 16 which holds over 300 people and has a huge screen. Everyone had their own row if they wanted it.

Capricon 25 - Mad Scientists

Before the movie started, we had a raffle and gave away 3 movie posters (provided by the theatre) and a free membership to Capricon 25.

The movie was fun and it was made even better by the fact that you *knew* everyone in the room was getting the references and was appreciating it on the same level as you were. You already know by now that, beyond the title, the movie almost no relation to the book. But if you knew that going in, and were willing to accept that, it was actually pretty good.

Everyone stayed for the closing credits.

Afterward, there was a lot of standing around and talking. We only left because the cleaning crew was trying to work around us…and we were hungry. There was some discussion of next time having a planned post-movie get-together at a restaurant. That will depend on if we move the time/day tho. Another thing brought up was the possibility of moving it to a midnight show on Fri.

Whatever happens, we are definitely planning on doing it again so watch this space, for more info.
